Hi, I’m Cerna from the Boogieburg Soundsystem. I’ve been a DJ since 2003 and doing visual art since 2009.

I started DJing with vinyl records, two turntables and a battle mixer.  Over the years, I eventually moved over into the digital realm, CD’s and the like.  I also used Serato Scratch Live for 5 years.

Since December 2010, I switched to two controllers, a DJ Tech Tools Midi Fighter Classic and a Native Instruments Traktor Kontrol S4.  The software I use is Native Instruments Traktor Pro 2 running off a Macbook Pro.  I integrate mixing, scratching and impromptu sample layering during my sets.

I play a number of genres: reggae, dancehall, roots, hip hop, chillout, downtempo, funk, indie dance, moombahton, house, breaks, baltimore club, drum & bass, dubstep and all the sub-genres within those larger genres.  My experience over the years has given me the tools to rock a party anywhere and anytime.  My love for music shows during my sets, whether its the beginning of the night, or the end.

I also dabble in music production, something I picked up in 2004.  I started off using Ableton Live 4 and now, I use Ableton Live 8 with a few midi controllers.  I like to do edits and remixes but, I also work on original material.  Eventually, I will publish those original works as free downloads in the form of albums and EPs.

As far as art goes, I have been interested in it all my life.  I’ve taken formal drawing and design classes back in 2009 and I am continuing to do self study.  Some mediums I am fond of are spray paint, acrylic, graphite, marker and pen.
