Boogieburg Bangover #8 post-game thoughts

bangover

Design by Cody Vondell 2013

A little tardy on the post but, I had to catch up on sleep and take an exam for school.  Anyway, an excellent night and everyone had a great time.  Our guests: Mr. Atomic and MindElixir were most awesome and I enjoyed meeting, talking to and listening to them work their craft.  And yes, Boogieburg held it down for our town.  This marks the final Bangover party of the semester as school winds down to make way for the summer.

“Freeze”

I saw this film once a few years ago and I’m glad a better version has turned up again.  This really serves as a lesson to those newer DJs out there that you don’t have to stick with one or two genres of music if you feel like you need to branch out to express yourself.

As a DJ who learned how to mix and scratch records, I am still very fond of the media.  To this day, even though I have evolved over to the digital, I still continue to dig for records when I can.  I will never stop collecting and listening to records.

Many new DJs I have encountered over the past few years that own turntables, have never even owned a record.  The only “vinyl” they own are control records for their DVS, which I find disappointing.  Vinyl is a part of our culture as DJs and the media, though antiquated, should be remembered and respected.
